A lot has changed since the last print issue of Talent Management.
Originally launched in 2005, Talent Management was retired in 2016 under former company ownership. In December 2021 BetterWork Media Group relaunched Talent Management online, with a refined focus on driving business performance through empowered people.
Today, we bring back the brand in print. To stand the test of time, to survive, everything evolves. The world changes, and we change with it, constantly adapting to our new set of circumstances.
The last time you picked up a Talent Management print issue was likely before Donald Trump was elected president, TikTok became a global sensation, Russia invaded Ukraine and the COVID-19 pandemic forever changed the way we live and work.
In fact, the magazine was probably delivered to your office, which you commuted to every day, without much question. Now, you may be reading this in your home office, at the beach where you’re working remotely this week or even in the metaverse (or maybe that’ll be next year’s issue).
The pandemic undoubtedly changed workers’ mindsets, as many took stock of their lives, sense of purpose and happiness through the chaos of the past few years. The Great Resignation and “quiet quitting” movements are clear signs of the disengagement among the American workforce — and employers know they need to rethink their hiring practices and company cultures to compete in this new labor market.
Talent leaders must continue to evolve with the world. At present, many company leaders are faced with talent shortages, skills gaps and disengaged employees. The shifts in the world of work require a new perspective on talent management that speaks directly to the importance of employee well-being to the success of our organizations. The challenge for talent leaders is to figure out the best way to offer the well-rounded benefits, work-life balance and purposeful work that employees now want and expect. It’s the only way to attract and retain top talent.
Each June and December, Talent Management will print a new magazine featuring stories, columns, case studies and analysis written by leading thinkers, researchers, practitioners and journalists with a finger on the pulse of the talent industry. Between issues, we’ll be keeping our website updated with the latest news and analysis in multiple formats, including articles, videos and our new monthly podcast, Talent10x.
We hope the pages of this issue, and all those that follow, provide talent leaders with insights that capture the changing nature of work and how leaders must evolve to best support their companies and employees.
We invite you to keep learning, growing and evolving with us. After all, it’s the only way to survive.
